On Friday night the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce saw fit to give Havoc Farm Pork three awards at the Hospitality and Tourism Awards. The Local Food Producer Experience Award, Sustainability Award and The Supreme Award.

Avoiding the age old question about the audible impact of one, this is the sound of both hands clapping. The sound of us all jumping up and down with excitement. This is Lady Havoc collapsing into tears of shock and joy. This is her and Butcher John hugging each other and dancing around like tiny school kids learning folk dancing. The Lord of Havoc laughed. He said he would take all credit because without his pigs there wouldn’t be any Yorkshire Black Bacon.

Nestled below the Hunter Hills in South Canterbury, in the midst of a grain growing area, is a 24ha property belonging to Ian and Linda McCallum-Jackson.
It's called Havoc Farm and it's where a herd of free-ranging pigs is being reared to provide natural pork for niche markets that Linda and Ian began developing in 2003.

Ian McCallum-Jackson of Havoc Farm near Waimate in South Canterbury loves his pigs, many of which have names. They are smarter than sheep and cows, inelligent, challenging and amusing. He admits they sometimes cause havoc, but says you can put up with a lot of you can have a good laugh at the end of the day.
